Radical Farm Camp 2025

“People often ask me what one thing I would recommend to restore relationship between land and people. My answer is almost always, “Plant a garden.” It’s good for the health of the earth and it’s good for the health of people. A garden is a nursery for nurturing connection, the soil for cultivation of practical reverence. And its power goes far beyond the garden gate—once you develop a relationship with a little patch of earth, it becomes a seed itself. Something essential happens in a vegetable garden. It’s a place where if you can’t say “I love you” out loud, you can say it in seeds. And the land will reciprocate, in beans.” - Robin Wall Kimmerer

"Growing food has helped me come back to myself, to know who I am beyond the grasping and unbelonging. It has shown me the many ways in which I am woven into a tapestry of being, of which we are all a part. It has allowed me to tune my ear to the call of the earth and tread on its surface with an ever-loving step. And it has shown me to walk in the footsteps of my ancestors when I couldn’t find their stories in the history books." - Claire Ratinon, Unearthed

Radical Farm Camp 2025, 2nd-6th July, Dartington, Devon, UK

Note: Places are extremely limited and accepted on a rolling basis. So apply now!

Radical Farm Camp is back! This year we will be gathering in the wilds of South Devon on our home-turf to learn from some extraordinary land projects leading the way on regenerative food and farming practices, ecological repair & liberatory belonging.

We will learn practical organic food growing skills through hands on experience in working market gardens. We will trace Jewish histories of food and farming, engaging in ancestral practices of growing and preparing food,  cooking together and enjoying delicious farm to table feasts.  We will also explore the Torah of a Jewish land justice & how we might get involved in land justice struggles in the UK today. We will wake early to pray & sing in community, we will experience a proper ‘Farmer’s Shabbat’, resting together at the culmination of our retreat. We will build kindred & supportive community.

We can now confirm we will be based on Dartington Estate at the incredible School Farm CSA, within walking distance from The Apricot Centre & Martin Crawford at the Agro Forestry Research Trust. We will be learning and exploring with Mariam Mohamed at Radical Plant Folk (some of you might have seen her talk in our last Homeland Series). We will also be holding an intimate conversation on the land with Mariam, Poppy Okotcha (award-winning author of her new book A Wilder Way), & Sasha Georgiades (Growshare) exploring gardening & belonging from queer and diasporic perspectives. There will of course be bagels, baked with local flours as we learn the Torah of Wheat with @Robyn Minogue of the South West Grain Network and the river Dart will be our sanctuary when it all gets a bit sweaty and a Mikveh calls. We will celebrate Shabbat in the beautiful Foxhole Community Garden, sinking into rest and play at the end of a busy week. Food will be catered by the illustrious Sima Cutting of the Kitchen Table, bringing all the goodness of the field to exquisite deliciousness on our plates. This course will be based in Dartington, Devon. We will have plenty of time to swim in the river Dart and explore the wild beauty of these lands (maybe a trip up to Dartmoor or the sea!).

We are confirming accommodation, but as we don't have funding, this will be relatively basic camping, possibly with some indoor options for an extra £40-£70 per night. We are happy to help source camping gear as needed.

Please contact us for access needs.

All meals provided (mostly vegan, organic and gluten-free.) We will take it in turns to cook for each other with our very own farm to table chefs. There will be snacks and a place to prepare hot drinks.

This retreat is open to those who identify as jewish in the most inclusive and expansive sense; including those with jewish ancestry looking to learn more about their heritage; and those on a conversion journey.

Sadly, we don't have funding as we have had in previous years but we are doing out best to keep costs down, while covering the costs. We will be offering places on a sliding scale and ask that you pay what you can afford. Your generosity will support participation for those unable to pay in full. We have limited supported places *for now*, until we can gage if there are enough funds to offer more. Note, we really need to cover costs AND we don't want to turn anyone away. Please get in touch if finances are a barrier and you might need a furthur reduced rate.

Supported: £200 (limited places)

Standard: £250

Supporter: £300

Super Supporter: £350

Once we have confirmed your place, please make full payment to secure your place. Note, you can cancel your place within 2 weeks of the retreat for a full refund. After that, we're afraid your place is non-refundable.

Need to pay installments? Just let us know.

We look forward to receiving your applications!
